Removals in
Orpington.

Orpington is the largest town in the Bromley catchment and the one we load from most often after Bromley itself. Two postcodes, very different streets: the interwar avenues of Petts Wood, the post-war estates of the Crays, the larger family homes around Locksbottom and Farnborough, and cottages out towards Chelsfield where the town gives way to the Kent countryside. Every one of them is collected on the same survey-and-written-quote basis as a Bromley-centre move.

House removals in Orpington

Two postcodes, four kinds of street.

BR6 is where most of our Orpington work starts. The roads off the High Street, Goddington and Green Street Green are dominated by 1930s semi-detached houses: three bedrooms, a loft that has usually been boarded at some point, a garage that is rarely used for a car. Those lofts and garages are the part of the job people underestimate. We ask about them at survey, because the contents of a well-used Orpington loft can add a meaningful share to the load.

BR5 splits in two. Petts Wood, north of the railway, was laid out between the wars and much of it is a conservation area: mock-Tudor detached and semi-detached houses on wide, tree-lined roads with good parking. South-east of it, St Mary Cray and St Paul's Cray are post-war estates, maisonettes and low-rise flats, where the questions are about stairwells, communal doors and where the lorry can stand.

The edge of the town is a different job again. Chelsfield, Pratts Bottom and the lanes towards the M25 have older cottages and converted farm buildings on narrow roads without pavements. For those we survey in person and, where the lane will not take a full-size lorry, plan a smaller vehicle for the last stretch. That plan goes into the written quote rather than being discovered on the day.

Orpington neighbourhoods

Where in BR5 and BR6 we load.

Petts Wood
Interwar detached and semi-detached houses on wide roads, much of it within a conservation area. Parking is rarely the problem; period joinery and large wardrobes sometimes are.
Orpington town centre
Flats above the High Street shops and newer blocks near the station. Loading bays, lift bookings and parking suspensions are arranged before the move.
Green Street Green & Goddington
1930s and post-war semis with driveways. The lorry usually stands on the drive or directly outside; loft and garage contents are the variable.
Locksbottom & Farnborough
Larger family houses either side of the A21, plus the older cottages of Farnborough village. Bigger loads, often a full pack.
St Mary Cray & St Paul's Cray
Post-war estates, maisonettes and low-rise flats. Stairwell access and communal entrances are checked at survey so the crew size is right.
Chelsfield & Pratts Bottom
Village edge on the Kent side. Narrow lanes and older properties; we survey in person and plan the vehicle to suit the lane.

Services and routes from Orpington

From a BR6 semi to a Lisbon flat.

House removals, office removals and house clearance all run from BR5 · BR6 on the same survey-and-written-quote basis as a Bromley-centre job. Downsizing is a large share of Orpington work — households leaving a family semi for a flat, often with a clearance of the contents that are not coming. We can run the clearance and the move as one job, so the house is empty on the day the keys go back.

Moving abroad from Orpington? The lorry collects here and runs direct to France, Spain, Italy or Portugal — the four countries we deliver to — with the customs paperwork handled at both ends.

Orpington questions

Questions about removals in Orpington.

Do you charge more to collect from Orpington than from Bromley?
No. BR5 and BR6 are part of the named pickup catchment, so an Orpington collection is quoted on exactly the same basis as one in BR1. The quote reflects the size of the move, the access at both ends and the destination, not the postcode.
We live in Petts Wood. Does the conservation area affect the move?
Rarely. The conservation rules cover the buildings, not removal lorries, and most Petts Wood roads are wide with off-street parking. Where a road has parking restrictions near the station, we arrange a parking suspension through the council in advance and include it in the plan.
Our lane near Chelsfield is too narrow for a large lorry. Can you still move us?
Yes. We survey lane properties in person. If a full-size lorry cannot reach the door, we use a smaller vehicle to shuttle between the house and the main lorry parked at the nearest safe point. That shuttle is written into the quote so there are no surprises on the day.
Can you clear the loft and garage as part of the move?
Yes. Tell us at survey what is coming and what is not. Usable items can go to charity, the rest is removed by a licensed waste carrier, and what you are keeping is packed and moved with the house contents.
Do international moves run from Orpington?
Yes, on the same basis as Bromley. The lorry collects in BR5 or BR6 and drives direct to France, Spain, Italy or Portugal with the same crew. Those four countries are the full list; each has its own route page on this site.
